WEEKEND FOOTBALL ROUND-UP
SATURDAY saw Stoke City knocked out of the F.A. Cup by Brighton who won the game 4-2 at the Bet365 Stadium.
Stoke opened the scoring as Hecke scored an own goal on 16 minutes and the Potters led until the 6th minutes of time added on at the end of the firdt half as Estupinan Tenorio equalised.
The Visitors took the lead as their captain Dunk netted on 52 minutes and the Potters scored a penalty on 63 minutes as Baker netted. The Premier League side then put the game to bed with a brace from Junqueira de Jesus with goals on 71 and 80 minutes sealing the victory. Attendance: 17,032
IN league one Port Vale were involved in a six-goal thriller with Charlton Athletic at Vale Park on Saturday.
The visitors went in front on 27 minutes as Taylor netted, a penalty on the stroke of half-time levelled the game at 1-1 at Chislett coverted the penalty.
Kanu put Charlton back in front on 59 minutes and the Valiants levelled the scores four minutes later with a goal from Ikpeazu. Athletic thought they had bagged all three points though at they went back in front for a third time as Campbell scored but the Vale fought back to level in the second minute of time added on as Massey struck a goal to leave the game finished at 3-3. Attendance: 5,993.
CREWE Alexandra are back into the leaague two promotion play-off places as they beat second place Mansfield Town at Field Mill 1-0.
The Alex scored early on with a goal after just two minutes to seal all three points for the railwaymen. Attendance: 7,295.
MACCLESFIELD slipped to a 2-1 defeat in the Northern Premier League Premier Divsion on Saturday against Lancaster City.
The Visitors went into a 2-0 lead in the first half with Bailey converting a penalty on 13 minutes and then scoring his second goal on the stroke on half-time.
The Silkmen gained a consolation goal from the penalty spot as Rooney conveerted the spot kick on 58 minutes. Attendance: 3,245.
LEEK Town continued their good run of form with a hard fought 1-0 victory over City of Liverpool at Harrison Park on Saturday which keeps them at the top of the Northern Premier League West Divsion.
The all important goal came from the penalty spot on 31 minutes which was converted by Stevenson. Attendance: 507
NEWCASTLE Town made it four points out of six under Neil Baker on Saturday this time Town scoring for the first time in several matches and taking all three points away at Mossley as they won 2-1.
Town went behind early on as Keogh put the home side in front on 19 minutes but Town squared things up on 65 minutes with Cockerline netting for the vistors and then they sealed all three points as Stubbs netted for the visitors on 83 minutes giving Newcastle a hard fought three points. Attendance: 442
HANLEY Town and Trafford played out a 1-1 draw, Town took the lead on 31 minutes with a goal from Walsh while Trafford equalised on the hour mark with a goal from Higgins. Clitheroe and Nantwich Town shared the spoils also as they both drew 0-0.
KIDSGROVE Atheltic continued their poor run of form as Runcorn Linnetts took all three points with a goal on 11 minutes from Molloy.
