Planning permission approved for redevelopment of Biddulph town hall square

Planning permission has been granted for redevelopment of the town square in Biddulph.

The redevelopment of the town hall square had been approved by Staffordshire Moorlands district council.

The area to the right of the entrance to Biddulph town hall is set to be redeveloped to make the space more open.

At present the area is hidden by railings and features the mining wheel memorial, which pays homage to the towns mining history.

Plans include to open the area up and elevate the mining wheel to make it more visible. The redeveloped area will also include a large open space in the town centre with an abundance of flower beds which are maintained by Biddulph in Bloom.

Staffordshire Moorlands district council approved the planning application on Thursday.
